10 Greatest Wrestling Managers

#8 - Miss Elizabeth

Elizabeth is best known for the time she spent managing “Macho Man” Randy Savage.  She was by the side of Randy Savage virtually her entire career, leading him to a WWE Championship at Wrestlemania IV and leading Savage and Hulk Hogan as The Mega Powers.  Elizabeth also spent some time with the Four Horsemen in WCW and reunited with Savage in the nWo.

If I were to ask most of you how you remember Miss Elizabeth, even if you weren’t a huge fan, you would probably say “She’s the one that got married to Macho Man on TV right?”  Elizabeth and Savage had an on screen wedding that caught the attention of the world and her devotion to the Macho Man carried him to one of the most successful careers in wrestling history.

What do you guys remember about Miss Elizabeth?

Greatest Managers of All Time
#10 - “Classy” Freddie Blassie
"Listen, You Pencil-Neck Geek" is all the great Freddie Blassie had to say to captivate an audience.  He managed High Chief Peter Miavia, Mr. Fuji, Jesse "The Body" Ventura, George "The Animal" Steele and even Hulk Hogan,  Perhaps his mos successful run was with Nikolai Volkoff and The Iron Sheik.  He led Sheik to a World Title win and the Pair to a Tag Team Championship on Wrestlemania 1.  Blassie was a man who’s mere voice would make you want to punch his lights out, and at the same time you can step back and tell he was excellent at what he did.  Blassie passed away in 2003 but towards the end of his life he made a few WWE appearances and heard nothing but respect from the fans in attendance.  It just shows that no matter how much you hated the character, everyone learned to respect the person.

#1 Daniel Bryan vs Bret “The Hitman” Hart

The Excellence of Execution vs The American Dragon.  Bryan and Hart are two of the most gifted in ring performers I have ever had the honor to watch and this match could go on for hours.  You could keep this entertaining with the first hour full of counters and submission holds.

I would literally be drooling over this match and would purchase a pay per view just to watch that match.

What do you guys think?

#2 “Stone Cold” Steve Austin vs CM Punk

Think of the storyline potential.

The Straight Edge, alcahol free, drug free, current WWE Champ vs the Beer Swilling, Mudhole Stomping, Texas Redneck.

On top of the fact that Austin and Punk are automatically good matches by themselves, together they would put together an amazing program.  I’m in Hog Heaven just thinking about the promos leading up to the match, let alone the amazing story that could be told.

How do you think this would turn out?

#3 “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka vs “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles

"Superfly" Jimmy Snuka is one of the most charasmatic wrestlers ever and he was the one that brought publicity for the high risk style.  Snuka is one of the most beloved wreslters ever and would make a great babyface for this match.

"The Phenomenal" AJ Styles has revolutionized the high flying genre and still has a good power game.  Technically he is a gifted athelete and his character just jumps off the screen.

This match would be a barn burner for sure.

#4 Fortune vs The Four Horsemen
Consider if you will that Ric Flair formed Fortune in the image of the Four Horsemen.  Now think about what would have happened if these two teams would have matched up.
You can insert any combo of Horsemen members that you see fit and this is still a great match.
In my mind, I am seeing AJ Styles, Bobby Roode, James Storm, and Frankie Kazarian vs Arn Anderson, Ole Anderson, Tully Blanchard, and Ric Flair.
I would enjoy the hell out of that.  Let me know what you think of the match.  Which classic Four Horsemen members would you put in this match-up?

#5 The Hart Foundation vs Evolution

Now to be clear we are talking Bret, Owen, Jim Neidhart and British Bulldog vs HHH, Flair, Orton and Batista.
These groups are practically mirror images of each other and I feel like that would make a crazy good match up.
Let me know what you think about it.

#6  Mr. Perfect vs Ric Flair vs Dolph Ziggler
Mr. Perfect was a great mat wrestler, who simply oozed charisma and swagger everywhere he went.  If you are old enough you may remember those promos with him using his athletic prowess to show that he is simply perfect.  If you are not old enough, find them on the internet.  Curt Hennig was always one of my favorite wrestlers as a child, because he could literally do it all.
Ric Flair is in my opinion, the greatest wrestler of all time.  He had some of the most classic matches with Ricky Steamboat and Harley Race, and was of course riding high with the Four Horsemen.  Despite any mishaps in the ring, he always managed to steal the show, with his attitude and charm just jumping off the screen and into your living room.  Flair is a 16 time world champion, and based on that stat alone deserves to be hailed as the greatest.
Dolph Ziggler has the potential to be the perfect combination of Flair and Mr. Perfect.  He carries himself with at businesslike demeanor which comes off as blatant arrogance.  He’s good, and he knows that he is good.  Recently, I watched him carry matches with Mason Ryan which would have been hell to watch otherwise, and he has proven to be a work horse, and in a way a throwback to the Flair era, with his wrestling multiple matches on PPVs and show stealing performances every time he is in the ring.
This three way dance would be hands down, one of the greatest matches ever fought, and at the very least would be extremely entertaining.
